Year 7 & 8 Coordinator’s Message

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to the new school year. To our returning students in year 8, welcome back! To our new students starting their journey with us in year 7, welcome to Meadow Fair Campus and to your first year of secondary school!

This year began with an orientation session for our new year 7 students on the day before school officially commenced. It was great to be greeted by such enthusiastic and well-mannered young men as we commenced our presentation regarding school rules, expectations and procedures. As one would imagine, it was quite a lot of information to take in. However, it was great to see that some students who had arrived feeling a little nervous were far more confident by the end of the session, and were excited to transition to the next chapter of their education.

At this stage in the term, those students who have joined us for the first time this year have settled in to their new environment well, overcoming any initial anxieties.

For our year 8 students, this year started with a robust discussion regarding the school's expectations as well as reflecting on the cohort's many strengths and some areas for improvement. In 2020, the focus for the year 8 students is the pursuit of excellence, both in terms of their academic achievements and their character development. I am confident that these boys will rise to the challenge of becoming a cohort who distinguish themselves through their honesty, integrity, respectfulness and courtesy.

I wish all students a rewarding and safe year and I extend a warm invitation to parents and guardians to contact me, to discuss any matter concerning their son’s school life. I also encourage parents to contact each of their son’s subject teachers, in order to establish a strong line of communication between you and your son's teachers.
